Ambrosia Diner: Classic Retro Dining in Catskill with Hearty Meals and Friendly Service

We dined here last week with family friends. This was my first time, the rest were frequent diners there. This is old school, wonderful, diner food. Firefly, the place is immaculate. The choices are typical of diners, vast. The burgers are the size of your face (now that's old school), the fries were crispy, and my husband had his first Monte Cristo, which he enjoyed immensely. The lunch salad sized chef salads were huge, and the prices were very reasonable. Our server was incredible and even though our very large group was there till nearly closing time, the staff never tried to push us out. They were kind and courteous. It was wonderful. We will be back on our next trip up there.

We come here at least two or three times a month, and it never disappoints. The food is always hot, fresh, and delicious whether it’s breakfast, lunch, or dinner. The staff is consistently friendly, and the service is quick without ever feeling rushed. It’s also very kid-friendly without being loud or overrun, which is a huge win for families who still want a relaxing meal. Ambrosia is truly a hometown gem. Highly recommend!

This. Chrome, glass, and neon diner has plenty of parking and plenty of seating. Is located conveniently close to I 89. I had a Gyro, which was stuffed with lamb. And the sweet potato fries on the side or among the best I’ve had. The white staff were professional and were hustling. But, I didn’t see any of them being very friendly. I’m not sure if that is a management expectation. But since the place wasn’t busy, it would’ve been nice if someone had taken a moment to say "hello" and "welcome" instead of just asking "what do y’all want?"

My wife and I were up early in the neighborhood and decided to a diner. So happy we came here. I ordered the Farmers Omelet with whole wheat toast and orange marmalade. Breakfast as it should be. Delicious.

5 stars are very rare from me. This diner has earned it. Its beautiful retro feel, amazing service and food was amazing meat was very tender and delicious. Must try when in town.

We were on the way back home and got detoured off the highway, well I'm glad we did because we spotted this gem of a diner. This place has been open since the 1960s and the atmosphere is amazing, very nostalgic. The waiters are very nice and the food was made in great time, no long wait. The pancakes with real vt maple syrup was great, the sausage gravy with biscuits is also homemade. The food tastes like homemade classic dining which is what i expected. I highly recommend getting off i87 in new york to visit this amazing diner.

This was such a beautiful diner. Everything was clean and staff was friendly. There's a lot of items on the menu to choose from. But we just stopped by to grab a strawberry milkshake so maybe next time we can try something else. The seats were comfortable to sit on as well
